Job Summary Homeland Talent Solutions is partnering with a community-focused Critical Access Hospital in Southwest Washington to hire a Controller to lead its accounting function and work closely with the CFO. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Controller or a high-performing Assistant Controller, Senior Accounting Manager, Accounting Director, Finance Manager, or similar accounting leader ready to take on broader ownership, visibility, and leadership.
The Controller will oversee the hospital’s core accounting operations, lead an experienced three-person accounting team, and serve as a key financial partner to the CFO and hospital leadership. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the organization’s financial operations while supporting the hospital’s mission and long-term success.
Responsibilities
Own the accuracy and integrity of the hospital’s financial statements, general ledger, month-end close process, and balance-sheet reconciliations
Serve as the primary accounting contact for annual financial, compliance, and accountability audits
Lead, develop, and support an experienced accounting team consisting of a Senior Accountant, AP Specialist, and Payroll Specialist
Prepare financial reports, analysis, and supporting materials for executive leadership and Board presentations
Partner with department leaders to address financial questions, investigate variances and issues, and provide timely follow-up and resolution
Collaborate closely with the CFO on accounting operations and broader finance initiatives, with responsibilities tailored to the candidate’s experience and capabilities
Support hospital-specific accounting and financial requirements, including Critical Access Hospital and Medicare-related processes, as applicable
Requirements
Progressive accounting experience with demonstrated responsibility for financial reporting, general ledger accounting, month-end close, and balance-sheet reconciliations, preferred
Strong technical accounting knowledge with sound judgment and attention to detail, preferred
Proven experience leading, mentoring, or providing direction to accounting professionals, preferred
Ability to work effectively in the details while also delegating responsibilities and providing strong team leadership, preferred
High standards for accuracy, accountability, integrity, and quality of work, preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an approachable, collaborative leadership style, preferred
Ability and willingness to work onsite in South Bend, Washington, preferred
CPA or other advanced accounting credential, preferred
Hospital or healthcare accounting experience, preferred
Benefits This role offers a competitive base salary of $110,000–$144,000, along with a sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits package. Relocation assistance is also available for the right candidate.
