Job Summary Homeland Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading healthcare organization to hire an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations across a large, complex healthcare system. The Payroll Manager will lead payroll processing, team development, regulatory compliance, audit support, and process improvement initiatives while ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery.
This role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on payroll expertise with leadership responsibilities while collaborating closely with Human Resources, IT, Compensation, Accounting, and other key stakeholders. The Payroll Manager position offers a highly flexible hybrid schedule, with an onsite expectation of approximately once per month. Relocation assistance is available.
Responsibilities
Oversee payroll operations across multiple entities, ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent payroll processing
Manage payroll transactions, including salaries, taxes, garnishments, deductions, manual deposits, and off cycle payrolls
Lead year-end payroll activities, including W-2 reconciliation, preparation, and submission
Coordinate daily and weekly payroll workflows to ensure deadlines, accuracy, and operational efficiency
Lead, coach, cross-train, and develop payroll team members while supporting ongoing professional growth
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations, requirements, and best practices
Partner with Accounting to resolve payroll discrepancies and support account reconciliations
Collaborating with Human Resources, IT, Compensation, and other stakeholders on timekeeping and HR/payroll system updates
Develop and analyze payroll reports to identify discrepancies, evaluate trends, and recommend improvements
Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate payroll records and providing required documentation
Maintain payroll policies, internal controls, procedures, and supporting documentation
Evaluate and improve payroll processes to strengthen accuracy, productivity, efficiency, and reporting capabilities
Communicate payroll updates, issues, process changes, and regulatory developments to relevant stakeholders
Support departmental budgeting activities and manage payroll-related vendor relationships
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, or a closely related field
Minimum of 6 years of professional experience, preferably in payroll or general finance
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or people leadership experience
combination of hands-on payroll processing and payroll management experience
Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, internal controls, reconciliations, and year-end activities
Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing payroll professionals
Excellent computer, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with Human Resources, Finance/Accounting, IT, Compensation, and other business functions
Experience identifying, evaluating, and implementing payroll process improvements
Experience working within a large, complex, or multi-entity organization
Experience with UKG or similar payroll management systems, preferred
Additional Information This is a hybrid position with a minimum onsite expectation of approximately one visit per month. Candidates must be able to meet this requirement.
