Tullahoma , Tennessee Contract To Hire Sep 15, 2026
Job Summary Homeland Talent Solutions is partnering with a global engineering and technology organization to hire multiple Structural Engineers to join a growing Structural Engineering team. The Structural Engineer will support complex industrial, R&D, testing, and mission-critical facility projects, including highly specialized structures and systems that extend beyond traditional commercial building design.
The ideal Structural Engineer will have 5+ years of hands-on structural design engineering experience, with strong expertise in structural analysis, design calculations, structural steel, and engineered facility structures. Previous experience with the team's specific project applications is not required—strong engineering fundamentals, sound judgment, and the ability to apply technical expertise to unique and challenging projects are most important. The Structural Engineer will remain actively involved in engineering calculations, analysis, and design while collaborating closely with other engineers and project teams.
Responsibilities
Perform structural engineering analysis, calculations, and design for complex industrial, R&D, testing, and specialized facility projects
Develop structural loads and evaluate forces, stresses, member capacities, connections, and overall structural performance
Design and analyze structural steel, equipment supports, platforms, pipe supports, foundations, concrete structures, and other engineered structural systems
Develop and maintain detailed engineering calculation packages to support structural designs
Perform structural analysis using STAAD or comparable structural analysis and finite element analysis software
Apply hand calculations, Mathcad, engineering software, and sound engineering judgment to validate and optimize structural designs
Evaluate structures under conventional and, as applicable, specialized loading conditions
Collaborate with Structural Designers to translate engineering calculations and design intent into accurate models, drawings, and construction documents
Review structural drawings and BIM models for technical accuracy, completeness, and alignment with engineering requirements
Coordinate structural designs with mechanical, electrical, piping, civil, architectural, and other engineering disciplines
Support projects throughout design development, analysis, documentation, and implementation
Provide technical expertise and engineering support during construction, fabrication, installation, and field activities as needed
Take ownership of assigned engineering work and clearly communicate technical decisions and recommendations to project teams
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
5+ years of professional structural design engineering experience
Hands-on experience performing structural analysis, calculations, and design
Strong understanding of structural loads, load paths, forces, stresses, member sizing, connections, and overall structural behavior
Experience designing and analyzing structural steel systems and other engineered structures
Working knowledge of applicable structural codes and industry standards
Experience with structural analysis and design software such as STAAD or comparable FEA tools
Ability to collaborate effectively with Structural Designers and multidisciplinary engineering teams
Ability to independently manage assigned engineering work while exercising sound engineering judgment
US citizenship required
Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred, but not required
Experience in A&E, EPC, heavy industrial, energy, manufacturing/process, federal/defense, high-tech, or other complex facility environments, preferred
Experience designing structural steel platforms, equipment supports, pipe supports/racks, foundations, concrete structures, or similar industrial systems, preferred
Proficiency with STAAD and/or Mathcad or comparable engineering calculation tools, preferred
Familiarity with AISC, ACI, IBC, ASCE 7, and other applicable structural codes and standards, preferred
Experience evaluating structures under dynamic, vibration, seismic, thermal, blast, equipment, or other specialized loading conditions, preferred
Experience providing engineering support during construction, fabrication, installation, or field activities, preferred
Previous technical leadership, mentoring, or project leadership experience, preferred
Existing government or security clearance is a plus but not required
Additional Information The long-term work location for this position is Tullahoma, Tennessee. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with the intent to transition to full-time employment, although exceptional candidates seeking direct full-time employment may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Relocation to Tullahoma is not required before starting the assignment; qualified candidates may be eligible for temporary remote flexibility during the initial contract period to allow for a reasonable relocation transition. Candidates should be committed to establishing an onsite presence with the Tullahoma engineering team upon full-time conversion. Compensation:
This role offers competitive compensation, ranging from $45.67-$67.31/hour, based on experience, technical expertise, PE licensure, and overall qualifications. Our client is open to Structural Engineers with approximately 5+ years of hands-on structural design experience, with compensation tailored to the candidate’s experience and technical depth.
Summary This is an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer who wants to apply their expertise to complex, highly engineered projects rather than repetitive commercial design. You’ll work on large structural steel systems, specialized equipment structures, R&D and testing facilities, unique loading conditions, and mission-critical environments while collaborating with an experienced multidisciplinary engineering team. With the Structural Engineering group continuing to grow due to increased project demand, this role offers the opportunity to stay technically hands-on, expand your expertise, and take on increasingly challenging and impactful projects.
