Homeland Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading multi-hospital healthcare organization to identify an experienced Nurse Manager – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) for a high-acuity cardiac critical care department in Knoxville, Tennessee.

This leadership opportunity is designed for an accomplished cardiovascular critical care nurse who brings both strong clinical credibility and proven people leadership. The incoming Nurse Manager – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) will oversee a large, growing CVICU team caring for critically ill cardiovascular and post-operative cardiac surgery patients while helping strengthen staff development, competency, retention, quality, and overall unit performance.

The department has experienced meaningful recent growth, making this an important leadership hire for someone who can successfully develop staff, support a high-acuity clinical environment, and build strong partnerships across nursing, physicians, and hospital leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight for a high-acuity Cardiovascular ICU
  • Lead, mentor, develop, and retain a large team of nursing and clinical support professionals
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, orientation, competency development, performance management, and professional growth
  • Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centered cardiovascular critical care
  • Maintain and advance staff competency in complex cardiac therapies and technologies, including: IABP, Impella, Hemodynamic monitoring, Vasoactive drips, post-open-heart and cardiac surgery recovery, Mechanical circulatory support
  • Partner closely with cardiologists, intensivists, cardiothoracic surgeons, educators, and ancillary departments
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, productivity, resource utilization, and day-to-day unit operations
  • Monitor quality indicators, patient outcomes, patient experience, and clinical performance metrics
  • Lead quality, safety, and process-improvement initiatives
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets within established operational parameters
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, mutual respect, collaboration, and professional development
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, documentation standards, and adherence to organizational policies
  • Maintain visibility and accessibility across both day and night shifts as operational needs require


Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure with ability to obtain and maintain Tennessee RN licensure
  • Minimum of 3 years of cardiovascular critical care experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing leadership experience
  • Strong recent critical care background
  • Demonstrated cardiovascular clinical experience involving several of the following: IABP, Impella, Post-open-heart or cardiac surgery patients, Hemodynamic monitoring, Titration of vasoactive medications, Advanced cardiac recovery, and Mechanical circulatory support
  • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and staff-development skills
  • Ability to lead effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong commitment to quality, safety, patient experience, and nursing excellence


Additional Information
Schedule:

Typical leadership hours are approximately 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. As this is a 24-hour clinical department, the Nurse Manager must maintain flexibility to adjust their schedule periodically to support both day and night teams and meet unit and operational needs.

Staff Shifts:
Day Shift:
6:30 AM–6:00 PM
Night Shift:
6:30 PM–7:00 AM

Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary of $78,500 – $131,890,000/year, as well as a comprehensive benefits package. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
