Job Summary
Homeland Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading Education Technology organization to identify a Lead Software Engineer for its newly formed AI Technology Transformation Team. This Lead Software Engineer will play a key role in modernizing enterprise software applications through AI-powered development, cloud transformation, code modernization, and service decomposition initiatives. Working closely with Engineering Leadership and Enterprise Architecture teams, the Lead Software Engineer will lead complex transformation workstreams, design scalable modernization strategies, and help define how AI is leveraged to accelerate software delivery and improve engineering productivity across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical delivery of enterprise application modernization and transformation initiatives
  • Design and develop scalable architectures that support cloud migration, application modernization, and technology transformation programs
  • Collaborate with Principal Engineers, Enterprise Architects, and engineering leaders to execute long-term modernization strategies
  • Drive complex refactoring, code modernization, and legacy application transformation efforts across multiple technology platforms
  • Build and enhance cloud-native services, APIs, and modern application components that improve scalability and performance
  • Develop automation, frameworks, and engineering tools that accelerate modernization efforts and increase developer productivity
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software engineering teams, fostering engineering excellence and knowledge sharing
  • Establish and promote engineering standards, best practices, code quality guidelines, and architectural governance
  • Contribute hands-on to software design, development, testing, and implementation activities throughout the development lifecycle
  • Champion the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and workflows to improve software quality, accelerate delivery, and drive engineering efficiency

Requirements
  • 8–15 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience working within large enterprise software environments
  • Experience supporting complex application architectures and large-scale codebases
  • Demonstrated success participating in application refactoring, modernization, migration, or rewrite initiatives
  • Strong software design, systems architecture, and application development expertise
  • Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications
  • Hands-on experience working with AWS, Azure, or similar cloud platforms
  • Experience developing across multiple programming languages, frameworks, and technology stacks
  • Proficiency with technologies such as TypeScript, Java, C#, and NET, preferred
  • Experience designing and implementing microservices and serverless architectures, preferred
  • Familiarity with enterprise SaaS platforms and distributed systems, preferred
  • Knowledge of modern software engineering practices and application modernization strategies
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and workflows is a plus
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering leaders, architects, and cross-functional teams to drive technical transformation initiatives

Additional Information
This is a hybrid role, working remotely Monday and Friday, and onsite Tuesday-Thursday.

Benefits
This position offers an annual salary of $180,000–$195,000, based on experience, along with eligibility for a performance-based bonus. Our client also provides a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee health, financial wellness, and work-life balance.
