As the organization continues to expand its impact across the grocery industry, it is seeking a Senior Manager - Produce to support strategic category initiatives within fresh food departments. This is an exciting opportunity for a Produce merchandising professional to combine deep category expertise with analytics and business strategy while partnering with some of the industry's most recognized retailers and consumer brands.
The Senior Manager - Produce will serve as a trusted advisor to grocery retailers and suppliers, helping drive category growth, profitability, and operational excellence through merchandising strategy, pricing optimization, customer insights, and category management best practices. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of Produce operations, sourcing strategies, assortment planning, and shopper behavior, with the ability to transform complex data into actionable recommendations that improve sales, profitability, customer loyalty, and market share.
Responsibilities
Lead strategic initiatives focused on Produce category performance, growth, and profitability
Develop recommendations related to assortment planning, pricing strategy, promotional effectiveness, and category optimization
Analyze sales, margin, shrink, inventory, customer, and market data to identify growth opportunities and performance improvement initiatives
Partner with retailer stakeholders to improve merchandising execution and operational effectiveness within Produce departments
Develop and refine produce specifications, sourcing strategies, and category standards that support quality, consistency, and profitability
Leverage customer analytics and shopper insights to support merchandising and promotional decisions
Monitor competitive activity, consumer trends, seasonal opportunities, and emerging developments within the Produce category
Collaborate with merchandising, operations, analytics, marketing, and executive leadership teams to drive category performance
Present strategic recommendations and business insights to internal and external stakeholders
Serve as a subject matter expert on Produce merchandising, sourcing, and retail operations
Requirements
7–10 years of progressive experience in retail grocery Produce merchandising, category management, or Produce operations
Strong understanding of Produce department operations and the connection between store execution and merchandising performance
Experience in Produce specification development, sourcing strategies, assortment planning, and category optimization
Expertise in Produce pricing, promotional planning, seasonal merchandising, and category management practices
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable business recommendations
Experience leveraging customer analytics, shopper insights, and performance metrics to support decision-making
Proven ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate across cross-functional teams and organizational levels
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
Benefits This position offers a competitive annual salary of $200,000–$250,000 along with a comprehensive compensation package.
