Job Summary
Homeland Talent Solutions has partnered with a leading merchandising, planning, and analytics firm that supports grocery retailers and suppliers in driving market share, strengthening customer loyalty, and improving profitability through data-driven insights, category expertise, pricing strategy, and customer analytics. As the organization continues to expand its impact across the grocery industry, it is seeking experienced Vice President, Fresh Foods & Perishables to support strategic initiatives across fresh food categories, including Fresh Meat, Produce, Bakery, Seafood, Deli, and Prepared Foods.

This is an opportunity to join a highly respected team operating at the intersection of merchandising, analytics, and retail strategy, helping leading grocery organizations make smarter, data-informed decisions that drive measurable business results. As the Vice President, Fresh Foods & Perishables, you will bring deep perishables expertise and strong analytical capability, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable merchandising and operational strategies.

This role requires a strong understanding of grocery retail operations, category performance drivers, and customer behavior, along with the ability to influence stakeholders and deliver impactful business recommendations across multiple levels of an organization.


Responsibilities
  • Lead category strategy initiatives across fresh food departments, including Meat, Produce, Bakery, Seafood, Deli, and Prepared Foods
  • Develop recommendations for assortment optimization, pricing strategy, promotional planning, and category performance improvement
  • Analyze sales, margin, shrink, inventory, customer, market, and operational data to identify growth and profitability opportunities
  • Partner with retailer stakeholders to improve merchandising effectiveness and in-store execution
  • Evaluate category performance metrics and develop actionable strategies to improve sales, profitability, customer engagement, and market share
  • Leverage customer analytics, shopper insights, and consumer behavior data to support merchandising and promotional decisions
  • Identify emerging trends, seasonal opportunities, and competitive dynamics within the fresh food space
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, operations, marketing, analytics, and executive leadership teams
  • Present findings, recommendations, and business cases to senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on perishables merchandising and fresh category management

Requirements
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in retail grocery merchandising, category management, perishables operations, or fresh food leadership
  • Strong expertise in one or more fresh categories, including Meat, Produce, Bakery, Seafood, Deli, or Prepared Foods
  • Deep understanding of grocery retail operations and the connection between store execution and merchandising performance
  • Experience with fresh category pricing, promotional planning, assortment strategy, and category optimization
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into actionable recommendations
  • Experience utilizing customer analytics, shopper insights, and performance metrics to drive decision-making
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate across multiple organizational levels
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered

Benefits
This position offers a competitive annual salary of $200,000–$250,000 along with a comprehensive compensation package.
