Job Summary
Homeland Talent Solutions has partnered with a respected healthcare organization to identify an experienced Director of Med/Surg to lead a collaborative acute care team within a growing hospital system. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic nursing leader seeking a highly visible leadership role with strong influence on patient care quality, staff engagement, operational performance, and continued departmental growth.

The Director of Med/Surg will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Medical Surgical unit, overseeing daily clinical operations, staffing initiatives, patient care standards, and department performance metrics. The Director of Med/Surg will collaborate closely with executive leadership, physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to drive operational efficiency, improve patient outcomes, and foster a positive and patient-centered culture.

The ideal Director of Med/Surg will bring strong acute care leadership experience, excellent operational and team development skills, and the ability to lead effectively within a fast-paced hospital environment. This leader will play a key role in supporting staff engagement, enhancing clinical excellence, and contributing to the ongoing growth and success of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and clinical leadership oversight for the Medical Surgical department
  • Lead, mentor, and support nursing staff and frontline clinical teams
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, productivity, and labor management initiatives
  • Drive operational efficiency and support workflow optimization efforts
  • Foster a collaborative culture centered on accountability, teamwork, and patient-focused care
  • Partner with executive leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve departmental and organizational goals
  • Monitor quality outcomes, patient satisfaction scores, and department performance metrics
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and evidence-based practices
  • Support employee engagement, staff development, and retention initiatives
  • Participate in leadership meetings, strategic planning, and hospital-wide operational initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and continued department growth
  • Promote service excellence and a high standard of patient care throughout the department


Requirements
  • Current RN license required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Prior Med-Surg or acute care leadership experience preferred
  • Strong leadership experience in staffing, operations, and team development required
  • Experience working within an acute care hospital setting required
  • Knowledge of productivity management, labor management, and quality improvement initiatives preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal collaboration skills required
  • Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities preferred

This opportunity offers a competitive rate of $66.04-$89.16/hour based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
