Homeland has partnered with a respected and dynamic healthcare system to hire a skilled and experienced Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) for a high-acuity, multi-specialty surgical environment in beautiful Hickory, NC. This Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) role is ideal for a surgical professional who thrives in a fast-paced, procedure-driven setting and is passionate about providing direct support to surgeons during complex cases. As a Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA), you will work closely with experienced surgeons, nurses, and surgical staff in an environment that values teamwork, adaptability, and clinical excellence. You will gain exposure to diverse and complex procedures including general surgery, bariatrics, and other specialty cases. In this role, the Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) will provide critical intraoperative support across multiple specialties, working side-by-side with surgeons to ensure optimal outcomes. Success in this position requires advanced technical skills, the ability to anticipate surgical needs, and the flexibility to assist across a broad range of procedures in a high-volume surgical setting. 


Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during procedures across multiple surgical specialties
  • Provide direct intraoperative support, including exposure, hemostasis, and wound closure
  • Maintain a sterile field and adhere to all surgical protocols and standards
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient and timely case flow
  • Promote and support patient safety throughout all phases of care
  • Adapt to a wide range of procedures and individual surgeon preferences

Requirements
  • Minimum education: Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or approved military training program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical First Assisting program required
  • Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) certification required
  • Minimum of 2+ years of first assist experience preferred

Additional Information
  • 8- or 10-hour shifts available  6:30/6:45 AM – 3:30 PM  or 6:45 AM – 5:00 PM 
  • Flexible scheduling based on candidate preference 
  • Call is required (approximately 14 shifts per 8-week schedule) 
  • Call begins immediately following scheduled shifts 
  • Includes weekday and weekend rotation, with weekend call required 
  • 8-week rotating schedule provided for consistency and advance planning
