Job Summary Homeland has partnered with a respected and dynamic healthcare system to hire a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN), Operating Room for a high-acuity, multi-specialty surgical environment in beautiful Hickory, NC.
This Registered Nurse (RN), Operating Room role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced procedural setting and is passionate about supporting complex surgeries across multiple specialties. As a Registered Nurse (RN), Operating Room, you will work alongside skilled surgeons, nurses, and surgical staff in an environment that values teamwork, adaptability, and clinical excellence. You will gain exposure to complex procedures including neurosurgery, orthopedics, general surgery, vascular, and robotic cases, while supporting a regional referral center that manages higher-acuity patients.
In this role, the Registered Nurse (RN), Operating Room will play a key part in ensuring safe and efficient surgical care. Responsibilities include circulating during procedures, maintaining a sterile field, supporting surgical workflow, and prioritizing patient safety throughout the operative experience in a high-volume operating room setting.
Responsibilities
Serve as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures
Maintain the sterile field and follow all surgical protocols
Coordinate and support patient care throughout all intraoperative phases
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff to ensure smooth and efficient case flow
Monitor, document, and communicate patient status and changes to the care team
Assist with operating room turnover to support efficiency and readiness for subsequent cases
Adapt effectively to a wide range of surgical specialties and varying case complexities
Ensure full compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and patient safety standards
Requirements
Current North Carolina RN license or compact/multistate RN license required
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred (not required)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience preferred
Prior Operating Room (OR) experience required
Circulating nurse experience requiredRequirements
Additional Information
8- or 10-hour shifts available: 6:30/6:45 AM – 3:30 PM or 6:45 AM – 5:00 PM
Flexible scheduling options based on candidate preference
Call is required (approximately 14 shifts per 8-week schedule; currently elevated due to staffing needs)
Call begins immediately following scheduled shifts
Includes both weekday and weekend rotation as part of the call schedule
