Job Summary Homeland has partnered with a regional, multi-site healthcare system to hire a skilled Certified HVAC Technician to support critical facility operations. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex HVAC and mechanical systems within a hospital environment, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
The Certified HVAC Technician will collaborate with plant operations leadership and external vendors while contributing to system reliability and patient care environments. This position offers exposure to advanced systems, a stable work setting, and strong long-term growth potential within a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
Analyze, troubleshoot, install, repair, rebuild, adjust, and replace HVAC and mechanical equipment, including air handling units, rooftop units, compressors, heat exchangers, motors, bearings, valves, control systems, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and ventilation units
Inspect and verify the safe operation of boilers, ventilation systems, and overall HVAC infrastructure
Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs to ensure system reliability and uptime
Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic, electrical, electro-pneumatic, and digital control systems
Monitor building systems related to energy management and preventive maintenance
Utilize facility systems and tools to track maintenance activity and system performance
Respond to facility-related issues and emergencies, including HVAC system failures
Assist in prioritizing and executing maintenance work in coordination with plant operations leadership
Support acceptance inspections for new construction and renovation projects
Investigate air quality concerns and recommend solutions
Identify and recommend system improvements and ongoing maintenance needs
Ensure adherence to safety procedures and facility protocols
Inspect and maintain fire and life safety systems, including sprinklers, fire doors, and related equipment
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs
Collaborate with plant operations leadership on maintenance activities and facility needs
Coordinate with third-party vendors and contractors supporting specialized systems and equipment
Assist with vendor scheduling, oversight, and overall project execution
Requirements
Associate’s degree or vocational/technical training preferred; equivalent hands-on experience accepted
5+ years of HVAC experience in commercial or industrial environments, including complex mechanical systems
Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills with the ability to repair a wide range of building systems
Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, education, government) with a strong focus on safety and compliance
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Comfortable working in hospital facilities and interacting with mechanical systems
Physically able to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces
HVAC certification and valid driver’s license required
Minimal travel required (up to 10%)
